The Hart Mansion

The Hart Mansion on Lighthouse Avenue is indisputably one of the most treasured and photographed landmarks in downtown Pacific Grove, America’s Last Home Town. This prestigious three-story Queen Anne Victorian was completed in 1893 at the request of Dr. Andrew Jackson Hart, a general practitioner and obstetrician. For the first three generations of her life, The Hart Mansion served the community as a private residence and doctor’s office where Dr. Hart, his son, and his grandson after him housed their practices. In later years, The Hart Mansion was transformed into a series of high-end gourmet restaurants until recently, when she operated as a private residence plus working restaurant. This prominent home has been lovingly restored and remodeled by its current owners, Jim and Kathy Turley since they acquired title to it in April of 2010. The Turleys have put forth great effort in carefully preserving, replicating, and repurposing as many original materials as possible throughout their time in residence at the Hart Mansion. The couple worked tirelessly together to retain the original Victorian-era styling while incorporating all of the modern conveniences of today. Features of this grand, timeless beauty are extended views of the Monterey Bay and Lighthouse Avenue, numerous towering wooden pocket doors, a dramatic multilevel spiral staircase with carved railings and bannisters, tiled fireplace, early 1900s stove, shimmering crystal chandeliers, and much more.
