Rachel Conkling is a long-time Houstonian with a passion for real estate and an energy level that is unmatched. Buying or selling a home can be complicated and stressful, and Rachel’s goal is to make the process as smooth and enjoyable as possible from start to finish. Her high-performance training as the executive Realtor assistant to the number-six Top Producer at Martha Turner Sotheby's International Realty prepares her to be one of Houston's top Realtors.
"As a Realtor assistant, I gained more experience in those two years than I would have learned in 10 working by myself," says Rachel. "I learned the business from the ground up, working on every aspect of each transaction, from showing prospective properties to buyers and presenting our sellers' homes to the marketplace to facilitating the closings. Every day was non-stop, one transaction to the next to the next. I liken it to learning to swim in the deep-end first."
Prior to her career in residential real estate, Rachel was the marketing manager for HOUSTON magazine where she honed her interpersonal skills and developed a habit of strong attention to detail in everything she does. "I often juggled five or six client/magazine events each week and learned to execute each flawlessly - much in the same way that I handle my clients' real estate transactions now," says Rachel. "When 'hiccups' occur, and they do sometimes in both publicity events and real estate transactions, I know how to strategize and negotiate while keeping my clients' interests my top priority. I never forget that each client, like each event, has different criteria; no two clients have the same ultimate goal and I work hard to attend to everyone's individual needs."
Rachel thrives on guiding her clients during the home sale or purchase process, always an exciting, yet emotional milestone in people's lives. "I am a bubbly, happy person and my patient, positive, upbeat approach, paired with constant communication, seems to calm a lot of nerves," says Rachel. "And obviously, I love the non-stop aspect of it all."
A Houstonian since the age of nine, Rachel has extensive knowledge of a wide range of Houston neighborhoods, particularly the traditional areas inside Loop-610, a valuable skill for sellers seeking to establish a list price for their home. She especially enjoys working with first-time home buyers and educating them on the market and the process of purchasing a home.
Rachel comes from “a long line of Longhorns,” graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, and. earned an M.B.A. from Houston Baptist University. When not working, Rachel is a ‘foodie’ who enjoys new restaurants and cooking. A dedicated runner, she crossed an important item off of her bucket list when she completed the 2008 Houston Marathon. Rachel married her best friend from high school in 2010 and they are the proud parents of a baby girl and a rescue dog. Rachel and her family live in the Heights.
