So often in real estate, moving is portrayed as a snap – just find a house, pack-up and move in. Karen Hanson, a Houston Realtor since 1981, knows that reality is far more complex. Karen has focused her real estate expertise on helping families deal with the many challenges of relocation both domestically and abroad and has earned the Certified Relocation Professional (CRP) and Global Mobility Specialist (GMS) designations.
As director for a previous firm whose responsibility was relocation management, Karen managed two teams of employees in the U.S. and the U.K. and was responsible for coordinating the transfers for a large multi-national company. She started the domestic relocation division for another relocation management company and her team managed transfers for client companies within the United States. “All of this experience gives me particular understanding of the needs of corporate transferees, especially families with children who will need new schools and activities, not to mention the needs of the relocating spouse. I am also very conversant with the often complicated guidelines transferees and companies must follow during relocation.”
Karen is a native Houstonian and graduated from Westbury High School. She attended both the University of Houston and the University of Texas before working for eight years as a human resources specialist in the oil and gas industry. When not working, Karen and her husband enjoy spending time with their three adult children and four granddaughters.
