John McHugh, a Global Real Estate Advisor and Associate Broker with Sotheby's International Realty, began his real estate career in 2001. An expert in the luxury market with over 15 years of experience, he has represented numerous high-end properties throughout the Hamptons, including notable oceanfront and land listings.
From 2005 to 2013, John was the listing and selling agent for multiple Meadow Lane Oceanfront properties which sold for record-setting prices of more than $25 million each. Most notably, he sold “Wooldon Manor” in Southampton for $75 Million, making his 2013 fourth quarter sales total more than $100 million. In recent years, John has been forging relationships with high-end buyers from around the globe, giving them firsthand knowledge of the local markets in the Hamptons.
While John handles a broad array of properties, he specializes in high-end waterfront listings. His knowledge of local zoning, wetlands and permit processes are a great resource for his clientele, whether foreign investors, celebrities or those buying a family home. The majority of John's business is from referrals and satisfied repeat customers, which is evidence of his enthusiasm, discretion and dedication to client-centered service. A New York City native, John grew up on Manhattan's Upper East Side, where he attended the Buckley School. Before establishing his career in real estate, he worked on Wall Street for seven years, after studying art history and sociology at Roanoke College in Virginia. He was drawn to the Hamptons by its beautiful beaches and relaxed lifestyle, which seem a world apart from New York City.
