Prior to joining Sotheby’s International Realty, Octavia Melly devoted a decade to mastering the art of retail merchandising in New York City at companies including Ralph Lauren, C. Wonder, and most recently, Madewell. Her strong business background as a buyer for 130+ retail stores has given her the tools to identify, track, and analyze market trends, develop strategic marketing and pricing plans, and effectively negotiate and advocate for her clients’ needs. Furthermore, Octavia’s experience with design, innate aesthetic taste, and knack for creative problem solving is invaluable to both buyers and sellers alike. She endeavors to make transactions as seamless and stress-free as possible, with the highest levels of professionalism, integrity, and genuine attention to her clients’ best interests.
Octavia was born into a real estate family in Nashville, TN, where she graduated cum laude from Vanderbilt University with a major in political science and minors in English and art history. During her time at Vanderbilt, she studied international relations at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland where her love for international travel began in earnest. She also attended the National Outdoor Leadership School, backpacking the Wind River Range in their quintessential immersion program where she acquired skills in risk management, leadership, and environmental awareness.
Octavia currently lives in Greenwich with her husband, a third generation Greenwich native. She is committed to supporting local organizations including the Junior League of Greenwich, Greenwich Land Trust, Greenwich Riding and Trails Association, and Family Centers. She spends her free time hiking, practicing yoga, listening to live music, and enjoying Connecticut’s natural beauty all year long.
