Steve Gothelf is a highly experienced San Francisco Real Estate Broker deeply committed to client success. He has an extensive clientele benefitting his expertise in achieving real estate objectives. Steve is truly humbled by having wonderful clients and is dedicated to exceeding their expectations and works to continuously reinforce the trust and confidence placed in him. He measures personal success based on clients achieving their goals within the context of a positive experience, whether buying or selling.
Steve’s success is the result of many factors including an energetic and focused client-centric work ethic, deeply nuanced and continuously updated real-time market knowledge, highly developed listening and negotiating skills, the ability to think critically and execute strategically, as well as excellent working relationships with colleagues throughout the real estate community. Supported by a team of talented professionals in order to deliver the highest levels of service while achieving positive results for clients, Steve is also passionate about personal involvement in transactions and distinguishes himself by being available to clients on a consistent basis.
Steve represents buyers and sellers in the purchase and sale of single-family homes, condominiums, cooperatives, and small apartment buildings throughout San Francisco. His scope of work, while broad and diverse, and confidential when appropriate, includes the successful representation of clients in the purchase and sale of some of San Francisco’s most iconic, high profile, and rarely available residences. In addition to other notable sales, Steve represented either the seller or buyer in four of the 12 highest San Francisco house sales over the past eight years. Steve consistently ranks in the top tier of San Francisco and Bay Area real estate agents and, on average, is in the upper 15-20% of the leading 1,000 agents nationwide based on individual sales volume, as reported by the WSJ/Real Trends.
Prior to real estate, Steve was focused on the non-profit sector, developing and managing community-based drug prevention initiatives, consulting with programs serving at-risk youth, and participating in service-delivery evaluation on the city, state, and federal level. Steve has graduate degrees in public management and social policy, and pursued doctoral studies at UC Berkeley.
Steve’s vision for company-wide philanthropy resulted in the creation of a broker-driven fund supporting hundreds of San Francisco non-profits for which he served on the board from 1993-2018. He also served on the board of Huckleberry Youth Programs (HYP) for eight years and is a member of HYP’s Leadership Circle.
Steve and his wife, Donna, a former small business owner and real estate agent, have been San Francisco residents since relocating from the East Coast in 1976. Steve’s son, Adam, formerly a real estate broker on Steve’s team for seven years, is the Co-Founder and CEO of Disclosures.io.
