The town of Lewisboro, which is shaped like a boomerang, is located in the northeastern quadrant of Westchester County and consists of five villages that include South Salem, Waccabuc, Goldens Bridge, Cross River and Vista. The town's territory includes six lakes and sprawling horse farms. Located 40 miles north of Manhattan, Lewisboro offers a rural flavor while maintaining a workable commute into New York City. Although there is a large quantity of Lewisboro real estate, the overwhelming sense of Lewisboro is of being in horse country. Horseback riders can be seen on the town's dirt roads or crossing major roads. Riders also can use the trails at the 4,500-acre Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, a county-owned park, a portion of which is in Lewisboro. Four town parks offer a total of 179 acres. In addition to hiking and riding trails, the parks have playgrounds, ball fields and tennis courts.
