Ricky Allen was born and raised in Santa Barbara.
After 20 years of real estate experience in Dayton, Ohio, she returned to Santa Barbara in 1982, where she picked up her past and pursued her real estate career, first with Pitts & Bachmann, Realtors and then with Sotheby's International Realty. In Ohio she dealt mostly with corporate-level business people, and in Santa Barbara she has continued to sell high-end real estate. She has specialized in the Upper East area of Santa Barbara, where she grew up, Carpinteria and Montecito, particularly in Birnam Wood, a residential golf club. Locally she has served on the boards of the Santa Barbara Garden Club of America, the Crane School and the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, and presently she is involved with Music Academy of the West. She is an enthusiastic golfer and a member of the Birnam Wood Golf Club, and is familiar with the other local golf courses.
She was educated at Santa Barbara schools, the Madeira School, Greenway, Virginia and Radcliffe/Harvard University. In New York City she worked for a well-known interior designer and has found this experience to have been helpful in her real estate dealings. Having lived in many different parts of the country, she has a good feel for her clients who move here from other areas.
