Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, Ashley has a BA from the University of California Los Angeles with a double major in English and Interior Design. She was a high fashion model with the Ford Agency in New York City from 1973 to 1980, appearing in many magazines and television commercials, perhaps most recognized as the Aviance Girl. She retired in 1980 to start a family and has been married to Paul Margetson since 1978, with three children ages 26, 24 and 19. She earned a New Mexico salesman's license in 1990 and a broker's license in 1992, and also has both the prestigious CRS and GRI professional certifications. She has been trained by the National Trust for Historic Preservation and National Association of Realtors Judicial Standards, and has served on the Ethics Committee for many years.

She is consistently a top producer at Sotheby's International Realty.
