Williamsburg’s Smith, Gray & Co. Building has occupied the corner of Broadway & Bedford since 1884. Designed by architect W. H. Gaylor, its plans called for a Neo Grec-style cast iron facade by Jackson Iron Works. Purpose built, it contained manufacturing & ground floor sales spaces for the era’s preeminent children’s’ clothing manufacturer.
