Lou Cusano

Prior to joining Sotheby's International Realty's East Side Manhattan office, Lou practiced law in Manhattan for over 20 years, specializing in real estate, corporate and finance transactions, deal structuring and contract negotiation. His legal practice included six years with the law firm of Dewey Ballantine and four years as General Counsel and Executive Vice President at Central Park's Essex House, where he was responsible for over $25,000,000 of luxury condominium sales. Immediately prior to joining Sotheby's International Realty, Lou served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel to ICON Holdings Corp., where he advised on real estate transactions, corporate matters and asset management. As a licensed broker and lawyer in New York for over 20 years, Lou has a wealth of knowledge to share and takes special care as a broker to identify and negotiate the crucial issues in a transaction for the protection and advancement of his clients' interests. Townhouses, luxury condominiums and corporate residences are among Lou's areas of focus.

Graduating from the Boston University School of Law in 1985, Lou began his career in real estate as both lawyer and investor. As a senior associate at Dewey Ballantine, he assisted in both Mitsubishi's acquisition of Rockefeller Center and the restructuring of Donald Trump's real estate debt, then held by the Chase Manhattan Bank. He successfully weathered the battered real estate markets of the late 1980s and, drawing from his experiences through several economic cycles, he remains an active real estate investor. Lou is an avid golf, squash and hockey player and is a member of the University Club in New York, the Skytop Golf Club in Pennsylvania and Essex Hunt Club in Somerset County, New Jersey. He is also on the advisory board of Syracuse University's International Programs Abroad as an alumnus of S.U.'s study abroad program in Florence, Italy, which he attended during his senior year at the University of Virginia.
