Joan Teaford joined Sotheby's auction house in 1981, working in the European Works of Art and Impressionist Paintings Department after attending the University of Colorado, where she majored in Art History. She entered the real estate business working at Edward Lee Cave, Inc., as Mrs. Cave's assistant and a sales associate for 12 years. Joan's business focused mostly on co-ops and townhouses on the Upper East Side. The last 12 years have been spent in the tennis industry as director of tennis at the Dorset Field Club in Dorset, Vermont, and as a professional at the Amelia Island Plantation in Amelia Island, Florida. She was also the secretary of the Special Projects Committee at Memorial Sloan-Keltering Cancer Center, as well as a society board member and the vice president of the Docent Committee.
Joan is a USPTA/USPTR certified tennis professional and continues to teach on the weekends at Ekwanok Country Club in Manchester, Vermont.
