Marina, incorporated in 1975, is the newest city on the Monterey Peninsula. Proud of its cultural diversity, Marina has a very scenic state park beach and its own airport, with an adjacent business park. Sometimes called the Gateway to the Monterey Peninsula, the city has plans to revitalize its downtown area and has also recently approved plans for over 2,000 new Marina properties in all price ranges as well as an upscale regional shopping center. A modern active-adult living community is also planned for the near future. Marina is one of the most affordable areas to purchase single-family real estate on the Peninsula.
