Barney is a native of the Monterey Peninsula and a third-generation realtor in this beautiful area. At the time of his birth in Carmel, Barney’s father and grandmother were practicing realtors at Tri-City Realty in Pacific Grove, so Barney was literally born into the business. After graduating from Salinas High School in 1979, Barney worked in construction for three years before deciding to enroll in college. In 1986 he graduated from California State University Sacramento with a degree in Finance and a minor in Economics. After several years in commercial real estate he returned to his roots, residential real estate.

Licensed as a real estate broker since 1992, Barney has successfully represented buyers and sellers in all of the local communities including Carmel, Carmel Valley, Pebble Beach, Pacific Grove, Monterey, Seaside, Marina and the Hwy. 68 corridor. Being born and raised in the area’s real estate industry gave him a great foundation on which to build the set of skills necessary for excellent client service. Chief among these are his strong negotiation, marketing and communication skills. Barney never loses sight of his fiduciary responsibility to his clients. All of his actions are taken with their best interest in mind. Barney accomplishes his clients' goals in a timely manner and in a way that keeps them comfortable and informed at all times, always maintaining the height of professionalism.

Barney has performed as a leader in the real estate industry, being elected by his peers to the Board of Directors of the Monterey County Association of Realtors (MCAR) in 1997 and 1998. He received the MCAR’s Distinguished Service Award twice, in 1995 and 1997.
