Situated to the north of Hyde Park, Notting Hill is one of London's hippest areas and has long been regarded as the chic address of the capital. Private garden squares and large stucco-fronted Notting Hill properties makes the area real estate popular. The Gate provides the dividing line between the Phillimore Estate in Kensington and Notting Hill itself. Outside the gardens of Buckingham Palace, Notting Hill's Ladbroke Square is the largest private garden square in London, at a little over seven acres. Running north to south through the whole area is Portobello Road, famous for its Saturday antique and fashion market. The Royal Parks of Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park and Holland Park are all close at hand.
