Running west from Sloane Square, the area of Chelsea is one of London's most popular residential real estate areas. Bordered by the river Thames to the south, Chelsea property represents an eclectic mix of styles and periods with the large mansions of Tite Street, the Georgian elegance of Cheyne Row and the artist studios of Glebe Place. Past residents have included major people of British history including Sir Thomas Moore, Earl Lloyd George and Dante Gabrielle Rossetti. Other notable Chelsea landmarks include Sir Christopher Wren's magnificent Chelsea Hospital of 1682 and the home of the Chelsea Pensioners and the Chelsea Physic Garden, established to cure the ailments of high society in 1676. King's Road and Fulham Road run roughly parallel through the entire area and host many of London's fashion boutiques and interior design stores.
