Kensington is an elegant largely residential area to the west of the city, famous for its excellent high street and majestic Kensington Palace. The cherry tree-lined streets of Palace Gardens Terrace and Brunswick Gardens are extremely popular, together with the grand mansions on the Phillimore Estate at Campden Hill. Mostly developed in the mid 19th century, Kensington real estate does include some earlier Georgian houses, and the area is ideally situated for access to Heathrow and the private Northolt Airports. Largely prized too by the residents is the famed Kensington & Chelsea Residents Parking Permit, allowing holders access to free parking anywhere in the borough and directly outside some of London's best shops.
