After 32 years in the real estate industry, Gary Edington knows that the business is as much about people as it is about properties. It is the ability to listen and understand that helps make him effective at helping clients.

Gary grew up in Minnesota, and he and his wife, Linda, moved the family to Jackson Hole 27 years ago. His children, Demerie, Emily and Garret, have all benefited from the lifestyle and community of Jackson Hole. His association with Sotheby's International Realty began in 1996, when he joined what was then the Teton Shadows affiliate of the company. His professional background is in commercial/investment real estate, and he is now also part of the Sotheby's International Realty team marketing luxury residences at the Four Seasons Resort Jackson Hole.

Gary finds it rewarding to work as a team with other Sotheby's International Realty agents. He trusts them to treat his customers as their own. He also likes being able to brainstorm ideas and be the beneficiary of their collective talents, wisdom and experience.

While some people come to view their colleagues as family, Gary's closest business associates literally are family. One of his greatest satisfactions at Sotheby's International Realty, in fact, is his partnership with his daughter, Emily Flanagan. They share a common value system that each deal is important and deserves the same level of attention. They both believe in treating people not only in real estate, but also in life, the way they would want to be treated. The Edington team at Sotheby's International Realty also includes Gary's brother Peter and sister-in-law Bobbi Rockefeller. They effectively cover the Jackson, Alpine and Victor markets.

Though he is often at the office by 8 a.m. and understands that working all seven days of the week goes with the territory, Gary is not all about work all the time. His children and grandchildren are a huge part of his and Linda's life. Gary enjoys whitewater rafting, snowboarding and the occasional snowmobile ride, but he also finds time for volunteer work. He has helped direct the efforts of the March of Dimes in the Jackson Hole community and will soon be active on the state level.
