Kim Doty and John Baker are both fifth generation Texans. They attended schools in the Houston area (Notably, the Kinkaid School, Northwest Academy, and Waltrip High school).
Kim's Background Working in her family’s business, Texas Cement Products/Tex-Rite, was pivotal to her career in real estate. The business involved manufacturing grouts and thin sets for the ceramic tile and home building industry nation-wide. This experience afforded her knowledge in home design, construction and all aspects of running a business. An additional layer of experience was gained through a position of legal secretary to two large Houston firms where she became informed about contractual law, meeting deadlines and the importance of meeting client’s expectations.
John’s background is peppered with a farming and ranching business in the Pearsall, Texas area. For 28 years he was involved as a health, safety and environmental quality executive for several Gulf Coast oil and gas firms. John believes in the concept of “getting things right the first time,” a lesson well-learned in his previous business endeavors and one that will characterize his approach to the real estate business. John believes that “clients should experience total satisfaction,” and that is the secret to ensuring loyalty and a solid referral base.
Coming from a noted Houston family, John’s parents taught him at an early age the importance of the 5 P's - - prior preparation prevents poor performance. They also emphasized the importance of sticking with a commitment until closure.
Kim and John's volunteer activities include: Lifelong members of St. Martin's Episcopal Church and St. Rose Lima Catholic Church, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Texas Wildlife Association, Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, South Texas Property Rights Association, Montgomery County Fair Association and Montgomery County Women's Center, and Gladney Center for Adoption.
