Knowledge of the Houston housing market and excellent customer service are Norman Bering’s strengths. A fifth-generation Houstonian whose family has been in the retail hardware business for generations, Norman grew up understanding the value of great customer service. He worked in the family firm and learned not only to deliver superior service but to relate to people on every level. “I loved being with people in the store,” Norman says. “People are always the best part of anything!”
Although Norman lived in his family home in Tanglewood until he went to college, he jokes that his adult hobby was real estate. “My wife and I have built or remodeled homes in the Upper Kirby District, Country Village, Sandalwood, Tanglewood, Piney Point, Hunters Creek Village, The Heights, and the Museum District.”
Community service is important to Norman. He has served on the board of the Harris County Historical Society and as board member, president and chairman of the board of Trees for Houston.
Norman graduated from Robert E. Lee High School, attended Texas A & M University and graduated from the University of Texas. He is an avid scuba diver, and enjoys fishing, reading and spending time with his family. Norman’s adult daughters are a working artist and the executive director of the Houston Center for Photography, respectively, and he and his wife have three (adored) grandchildren.
