Native Texan AJ Whitener hails from the Houston area and began her career in residential real estate after 12 successful years in advertising sales. “As a sales professional, I learned to work well with people and realized the importance of follow-up and overcoming objections. I practice integrity, loyalty and honesty. I also know what it takes for marketing to be successful – target market, repetition, content – and that knowledge has been amazingly beneficial for my clients.”

As long as AJ can remember, her family has owned land and ranches, and her father’s extra income came from the purchase and sale of those properties. “I was raised to work hard and I do,” says AJ. “I really enjoy the negotiation process, a trait I probably inherited from my dad, and have earned my Certified Negotiation Expert (CNE) designation. I work with clients in all price ranges and stages of life, and I believe I was born to this career.”

As a Realtor with Martha Turner Sotheby’s International Realty, AJ loves the exciting, ever-changing aspects of the real estate industry and likes the feeling of “having her finger on the pulse of what’s going on both locally and nationally.” Always interested in people, she finds the back-stories of her buyers and sellers not only fascinating but very helpful as she searches for just the right house or helps an owner stage a home for sale. Her strong work ethic, market knowledge, and perseverance have placed her in the Martha Turner SIR Circle of Excellence.

AJ attended college at Texas State University in San Marcos. When not working, she spends as much time as possible with her three children, an older son and twin boy and girl. “I love the flexibility of real estate,” she says. “It allows me the luxury of participating more in their school activities.” AJ is a self-confessed “foodie” and “health nut” who enjoys cooking, especially with her children and friends. Other activities include CrossFit, shopping, listening to music, tending her home vegetable garden, and relaxing around the pool.
