In the early 1980s a prominent New York family purchased one of the highest elevated properties on the Amagansett oceanfront. The property sloped gently upwards from the road and flattened at the crest of the dune. Architect Greg Zwirko was commissioned to design and build a minimalist two story modern beach house. By setting the house on the top of the dune and orienting it the ocean shoreline, Zwirko created a spectacular unobstructed 180-degree panoramic vista of beach and ocean. Using floor to ceiling walls of glass and a rounded atrium roof he bridged the gap between interior and exterior elements and created a second floor sun-filled living space that extends to the decks and the beach.
