Marissa Ghesquiere was named Brokerage Manager in September 2016 of Sotheby’s International Realty – East Side Manhattan Brokerage, where she is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the office, including managing the office’s transactional, marketing and administrative staffs. Capitalizing on more than a decade of real estate legal experience, she provides transactional guidance to the brokerage’s impressive roster of residential brokers. An experienced negotiator, advocate and counselor, Ghesquiere is passionate about providing the highest level of support to clients and customers of Sotheby’s International Realty, while also developing the talents of her sales team and staff.
From 2007 to 2016, Ghesquiere was Corporate Counsel for Sotheby’s International Realty, Inc., where, in concert with the General Counsel, she handled the company’s legal matters by providing advice for both corporate and local leadership. Additionally, Ghesquiere previously served as Interim Brokerage Manager for numerous offices in the company’s Hamptons region.
Prior to her work with Sotheby’s International Realty, Inc. Ghesquiere was an associate with the firm of Reed Smith LLP in New York where she represented large corporate clients in multi-million-dollar real estate transactions. Ghesquiere also previously served as an associate with the firm of Johnson & Borenstein, LLC in New York where she represented real estate developers in all stages of their projects, litigated disputes relating to contracts and prepared condominium and homeowners' association documents.
Ghesquiere graduated from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ., with a Bachelor of Arts where she concentrated in English and communications and earned her Juris Doctorate from Boston University School of Law, Boston, MA. She is admitted to the bar in both New York and Massachusetts.
Ghesquiere lives in Brooklyn with her husband, an architect, and daughter. Marissa loves to travel, cook and take her daughter to the park.
