Kelly Nelson opened Charlie and Kelly’s Restaurant in Greenwich Village in 1971 and was head chef for 14 years. Having had blissful vacations in the Hamptons, Kelly felt the logical move was to migrate to East Hampton in l986, where she decided she was interested in real estate. She started at Hampton Apple that year and had a chance meeting with Frank Newbold and Michael Braverman, who then were owners of Braverman Brokers. Frank and Michael purchased Hampton Apple, and all parties fared very well. Sotheby’s International Realty purchased Braverman Brokers in l996, and business then skyrocketed.
Kelly has remained virtually with the same company for 20 years now, and intends to continue. Among her high-end successes are the sale of the Edsel Ford Estate on the ocean in Southampton for $21.7 million, the sale of 64 oceanfront acres in Sagaponack, which was part of the Paley Estate, for $11.8 million, and the eventual subdivision of that tract into several more successively high end sales, which continue to this day. She has several high profile listings at this time, which include two 4-acre oceanfront parcels in Sagaponack with interest in a 10+ acre reserve, a charming waterfront department store in Shelter Island at Dering Harbor with a legal apartment above, a 6-acre building parcel in the Estate Section of Bridgehampton, and several lovely East Hampton Village cottages.
Kelly’s hobbies are painting with oil, having sold several large canvases of horses, long bike rides, beach walks with her dogs Harry and Gracie, and boating with her husband Tom, a very able seaman and Captain on the North Ferry in Shelter Island. Please feel free to call Kelly with any inquiries.
