Job Potter recently served for eight years on the East Hampton Town Council, where he led the open space/parkland acquisition program, with an annual budget in excess of $20,000,000. Prior to elected office, he served for four years on the Town Planning Board. As a real estate broker, he has unique experience in responsible planning, the ins-and-outs of the Town Code, and an intimate knowledge of the community. Job’s first real estate experience began with the planning and disposition of several hundred acres of family property in Amagansett in the 1980’s. Working closely with a local land trust, it was possible to balance conservation and the family’s financial needs through the use of conservation easements, tax-deductible gifting, and limited sales of subdivided lots. For eight years, Job worked as a certified real estate appraiser for the East Hampton firm of Clark and Marshall. He presently owns several rental properties, which are held for long-term investment. Job lives with his wife, landscape painter Janet Jennings, and their two children, on the family horse farm in Amagansett. He considers himself greatly fortunate to live year-round in such a beautiful and peaceful community, where he is a member of the Amagansett Fire Department. He spends as much time as work allows with his family, boating, looking for surf in Montauk, playing guitar with friends, and occasionally escapes to Vermont in winter to ski and look at real estate.
