Greenwich recognized as leader in fashion, dining

Most residents of Greenwich, Connecticut, know instinctively that the city is full of stylish shops, delicious dining options and some of the most remarkable luxury homes in the state. That gut feeling has been confirmed by Connecticut Magazine's recently released Best of Connecticut 2012 list. Despite facing stiff competition from venues in cities like Hartford and Stamford, Greenwich came out on top in some of the most coveted areas.

With all of its well-attired and cutting-edge denizens, it shouldn't be surprising that Greenwich fared particularly well in the style area. In categories such as boutique shoes, men's ties and swimsuits, several of the city's trendy retailers scored top grades.

Vineyard Vines, for example, took the cake in the men's ties category for its extensive collection of high-style neckwear. Those looking for a place to buy elegant silk or woven ties will find Vineyard Vines, located at 145 Greenwich Avenue, to be a veritable paradise.

Indeed, Greenwich Avenue itself was singled out as "Connecticut's prime shopping mecca" by the magazine, which won't surprise anyone who has spent a leisurely Sunday afternoon popping into its famous boutiques and shops.

With fine dining and stylish retailers, Greenwich may find itself on Connecticut's best-of lists for years to come.
