Pops by the Sea is back for its 29th year7 Aug 2014 5:18 PM
The Boston Pops Orchestra, currently led by conductor Keith Lockhart, is beginning to feel like a national treasure. The team constantly draws sold-out crowds, offering wide audiences and brilliant performances of masterfully written music. In short, the Pops represents one of the greatest cultural events that a music-lover can hope to see, no matter where they are. So many will be delighted to hear that the Boston team will be stepping out of their comfort zone to offer another in their series of sold-out Cape Cod performances.
The 29th annual Citizens Bank "Pops by the Sea" event will take place this coming Sunday, August 10, at 5 p.m, at the Hyannis Village Green. However, the gates will be opening at 1 p.m., so be sure to get their early. The reason you need to stake your place on the lawn out so early? This event sells out every year - and it can seat up to 15,000 Cape Cod locals. People from far and wide are leaving the luxury real estate they reside in to come listen to some classical music - and you certainly don't want to be left out.
If the constant sell-outs are proof of the Pops' pedigree, then just look at some of the acclaim the event has earned. News reports from the Cape Cod Times, Wicked Local Cape Cod, the Barnstable-Hyannis Patch have all raved about the event, and many others have done the same. Lockhart himself even raved to one of the aforementioned outlets about how Pops by the Sea is one of the most fun events he gets to conduct every year. Pops by the Sea is a rare treat for everyone who lives in Cape Cod - but all the individuals involved, performers included, treasure it just as much.
Where you can get your tickets
As a result of these commendations, the event at Hyannis Village Green sells out quickly - so you'd do well to pick up tickets as soon as possible. Seats at varying levels - and thus, at varying prices - are available as we speak.
Lawn tickets are available for $20 at the event's website right now, though the price will raise to $25 on the day of the event. If you don't want to picnic, though, you'd probably do better with the $50 festival seats, which promise "a wonderful view of the stage."
Finally, VIP tickets are available for Cape Cod's high rollers. A VIP Table ticket - which must be reserved through Cape Cod's Arts Foundation - affords you a seat for 10 individuals, with food and drinks provided to you by the event. Additionally, you'll even be recognized as a VIP in the Pops by the Sea program book. Group tickets are also available, should you want to bring a bunch of friends without investing in a VIP table.
No matter what ticket you choose to get, you're going to want to go to the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod's website - accessible here - to obtain them. And while we'd recommend one of the VIP tables to ensure that you get a great view of the stage and plenty of space to watch and listen with your friends, you really can't go wrong with any of the seats being offered. So long as you can hear the Pops playing - and you'll be able to, no matter where you sit - you're going to get your money's worth and then some. There's a reason Pops by the Sea is held in such high regard by the community - it lives up to the hype.
