Lorin is a fourth-generation New Mexican, hailing originally from the ranching communities of Lincoln and Torrance Counties. She is a graduate of Gallup High School and of the University of New Mexico, where she earned her degree in psychology, dance and Spanish. She was the owner of Dance Alegre!, Albuquerque's leading Creative Dance and Pilates Center for 18 years and served upon numerous arts boards. Upon retiring from teaching, Lorin served under Governor Bill Richardson as the Executive Director of the New Mexico Arts Commission and most recently served very successfully as the Director of the Presbyterian Medical Services Foundation. Lorin is also a certified Pilates instructor and is married to long-time Santa Fe resident David Abbey. They enjoy their three children and a granddaughter and also enjoy golf, hiking, travel and spending time at the Erramouspe family ranch near Vaughn. Lorin and David are active members of the New Mexico Museum Foundation and of the state's only Basque member organization, New Mexico Euskal Etxea. Lorin is also an active member of the Stanley Homemakers Club and the Roadrunner CowBelles of Santa Fe County. In addition, she is involved in the Santa Fe business community through her membership in the Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce and St. Vincent Regional Medical Center's Community Business Forum. Her contributions to the real estate field include her participation on the Government Affairs Committee of the Santa Fe Association of Realtors.
