Palm Beach polo enthusiasts anticipate start of 2014 season

Unless you moved into some of Santa Ynez's luxury real estate very recently, you likely already know about that Polo is one of the favorite past times of many area inhabitants. In fact, it's a tradition that gets celebrated every year - including this weekend, with the third annual Santa Ynez Valley Polo Classic.

This year's classic will take place on Saturday, July 19, and benefit the People Helping People charity. Many of the world's highest rated polo players - and some local celebrities - will be knocking the ball around as a part of this year's event. If the sport isn't your point of interest, you should show up anyway - the field allows audiences a "dramatic panoramic view of Santa Ynez Valley, creating a beautiful backdrop" for the entire event, according to event organizers.

Tickets to the event are very low-cost as far as sporting events go: adult admission costs $10, and children under 12 are let in for $5. However, if you're looking to make a fine outing out of the event, you're going to want to pick up one of the $250 VIP tickets. With it, you'll earn your way into a champagne reception and a gourmet luncheon, as well as enjoy priority parking, a player reception, preferred tented seating and more.

The VIP Champagne Reception kicks things off at 10:30 a.m., and will allow for attendees to kill time before the VIP Luncheon and Entertainment gathering at 12:15 p.m. Then, the matches themselves will kickoff at 1:30, and awards will be issued at the conclusion of the day's events at 3:30. If you're in Santa Ynez Valley this weekend, you're unlikely to find a swankier place to spend your time than the Classic.

There's also a call for volunteers at the Classic's official website, so don't hesitate to raise your hand if you're willing to pitch in to help run this delightful event!
