It's Wine Month for the residents of Santa Ynez1 Sep 2014 1:00 PM
We know what you're thinking: In Santa Ynez, every month is wine month. And, to a certain extent, that's true. When you're living in luxury real estate located deep within the heart of America's wine country, it would be almost criminal not to enjoy the fruits of your community's labor on a very regular basis.
Yet, that doesn't mean some time shouldn't be set aside for an actual celebration. That's why September has been designated as Wine Month in California - and as far as Santa Ynez is concerned, the party will be going on every single night, all month long. There's a staggering lineup of events planned for the next few weeks for residents of this particular segment of California, so they better be gearing up for an exciting 30 days.
What events will be going on during Wine Month?
Santa Ynez residents will have more than enough events to enjoy as part of the month-long celebration. In fact, there's so many going on that it'd be near impossible to attend all of them.
For starters, the Santa Ynez Valley Historical Museum will be hosting an exhibit entitled "Uncorked," which will "trace the region's history ... highlighting the pioneering winemakers who helped bring international recognition to the Santa Ynez Valley as a region for producing exceptionally fine wines." Part of Wine Month is learning more about the region that produces it - and the "Uncorked" exhibit is the ideal way to do that.
After that, you may want to check out the classes and seminars being offered by The Good Life and Wandering Dog Wine Bar throughout the month. After all, you're going to want to continue your wine education, and you may as well do it at a place where you can have some great drinks simultaneously.
Maybe you'd rather get out onto the vineyards than learn about the wine itself. In that case, you should check out the vineyard tour being offered by Sanford Winery & Vineyards. You don't even have to worry about how much walking will be required: A picnic luncheon and barrel tasting comes along with the tour, so you can trust that the focus will be on fun!
Pretty much anywhere you go in the Santa Ynez Valley, there are events going on to help mark the occasion of Wine Month. Some people are going to be educating, some will be touring and some will be drinking - but everyone is sure to have a magnificent time.
Where can I get more information about these events?
Best of all, even if you're not a resident of the Valley, you can still easily take part in this month's celebration. Many of the hotels in the area - including the King Frederik Inn, the Wine Valley Inn & Cottages and The Ballard Inn & Restaurant - are all offering special packages and deals to commemorate the event.
As the event list illustrates, Wine Month is a lot more than just an excuse to imbibe. It's a time for a community to come together and learn about the land, the grapes and the drinks that have helped to support them for too many years to count. It's a time for celebration.
For a complete list of Wine Month events, information on lodging and much more, you should check out the official website for the Santa Ynez Valley. When you look at the full list, you see the deep breadth of what the area has to offer to its residents. That alone is enough reason for a celebration!
