Casa De Los Artes
This masterpiece of historic renovation hides in plain sight in Alcalde. Built in 1932 by the Salazar family as the village shops and their home, the house was bought in 1977 by internationally-known photographer Douglas Kent Hall and his wife Dawn, who renovated it as their home and studio. Experienced renovators and photographers Steven and Sandra Rudy laid the next claim and continued the historic renovation status with enviable modern perks: AC, zoned Rinnai heating, an architectural antique pergola, smooth plaster, original oak floors and gallery ambiance. Double adobe walls surround the many spaces to live, entertain, and work. The walled garden is carefully landscaped. This home is the perfect environment for an artist, a writer, or anyone who seeks a quiet place to do his work, to create, or to relax.
