Annual FORE Kids Golf Tournament helps raise funds for Santa Fe adolescents9 Aug 2012 12:54 PM
The Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe is an 18-hole, par 28 course that has served local golf enthusiasts for over 45 years. While many fans of the sport enjoy testing their skills in a fun, outdoor environment, they might appreciate helping Santa Fe youths by participating in the 14th Annual FORE Kids Golf Tournament on August 31, 2012.
Any local golfers looking to show off their skills while assisting disadvantaged youngsters can do so at this tournament, as players of all ages can enter. The competition includes a four-person scramble that features a total of 128 openings for players, and a fee of $100 provides players a golf cart, beverages and lunch.
This tournament has become a summer tradition since its inception in 1998. City Councilor Matthew Ortiz introduced the competition, as its proceeds support youth recreation programs at the Genoveva Chavez Community Center and the Municipal Recreation Complex. To date, it has helped raise funds that have been used to provide scholarships to city adolescents.
Participants can bring their A-game and enjoy a friendly match on the beautiful holes at Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe, a popular golf course located not far from many luxury homes in the area.
