Spruce up your Santa Fe home with local art11 Feb 2013 2:40 PM
Santa Fe is known for its vibrant local art scene, and many residents of the city have found that incorporating paintings, sculptures and photographs from nearby artists is a great way to make their homes more original. Whether it's the region's dramatic landscape or the community's commitment to creativity and artistic expression, Santa Fe is home to one of the country's foremost local art scenes. As such, immersing yourself in the local culture and filling your home with one-of-a-kind works can be a great way to support the community and beautify your home at the same time.
When Santa Fe resident Cathleen Shera was giving a tour of a historic local house, she decided to include the artwork of two local painters to help imbue the home with a specific, distinctly New Mexican flavor. The two artists she picked, Isabelle Korfhage and Noushin Hosseinzadeh, are both known for their natural and personal styles, which Shera believed perfectly suited the home.
"These original paintings have been a wonderful complement to this particular home, a mid-century modern remodel by longtime Rancho Santa Fe resident and builder Mark McClure," she told the Rancho Santa Fe Review.
Plenty of options
Santa Fe residents have many options to similarly outfit their luxury homes. The city is home to several renowned venues for viewing and purchasing the works of local artists.
One example is the Santa Fe Society of Artists, which regularly hosts shows and sales for more than 60 local artisans. Since 1981, the group has been helping to connect local artists and buyers by hosting juried shows and independent exhibitions.
Santa Fe Artists Market
Another way for Santa Fe residents to become acquainted with the work of nearby painters and sculptors is through the Santa Fe Artists Market. Located at the Railyard - with additional shows at Cathedral Park - this open-air market is the perfect way to find that unique piece of art that can set your Santa Fe home apart.
