Santa Fe Parade of Homes showcases innovative designs

Santa Fe has a community of about 60,000 residents who live and work in the area, roughly 200 restaurants, 250 art galleries, 13 major museums and numerous other features. While people might move to this city for various reasons, residents may soon consider the area's home designs when evaluating their relocation options.

According to the Santa Fe New Mexican, the city hosted a Parade of Homes from August 17, 2012, to August 19, 2012, displaying the styles and tastes of Santa Fe residents. There were 16 houses included in the tour, and many homes reflected edgy, innovative designs near the area's downtown.

"A lot of people want to be in town," Kim Shanahan, executive officer of the Santa Fe Area Home Builders Association, told the Santa Fe New Mexican. "A lot of people just like being in town. They don't want to be out in a gated community."

Some of the luxury homes had features such as a hydroponic wall of living plants and a gray-water system, which recycles water used in a house for watering outdoor plants.
