Maureen Mestas grew up in northern New Mexico and comes from a family that has been in the state since the 1600s. She has lived in other parts of the country and traveled extensively in Europe, but no place is as dear to her heart as Santa Fe. She is a graduate of New Mexico Military Institute, being among one of the first classes of women to be admitted to the school. She completed her undergraduate degree in psychology at College of Santa Fe. She was a paralegal for 17 years and studied for her PhD in clinical psychology in Santa Barbara, California. Maureen finds that the professional and educational experience she has acquired over the years has been essential to her ability to effectively assist her clients. Maureen has been involved in real estate and residential home construction in the Santa Fe area for over 13 years. Her areas of expertise include luxury and vacation properties, equine estates, residential homes and commercial properties in both sales and leasing.
Maureen finds each transaction as unique as each of her clients. Her responsibility is to be ready to meet those unique needs of her buyers and sellers who put their trust in her skills as a Realtor. She has received many compliments from clients and colleagues over the years as an award-winning, multi-million dollar top producer.
Maureen is a Certified Negotiation Expert, with a master's designation. She is the only Realtor in New Mexico with this nationally recognized distinction. She is a graduate and annual returning member of the Harvard Law School consortium, Program on Negotiation.
Maureen is also a lifetime horsewoman who trains and rides regionally, nationally and internationally in dressage. Maureen is one of the few Americans to be awarded bronze and silver medals in Germany's FN system for dressage and jumping.
She and her husband, Brian, enjoy travel, fly-fishing, skiing and rescuing and training Rottweilers for companions and service. They own a horse farm on the river in the traditional village of La Cienega, just south of Santa Fe.
