Time for the 40th Summer Solstice Festival19 Jun 2014 7:00 PM
Owners of Santa Barbara luxury real estate likely know all about the Summer Solstice Festival - it's been running for 39 years! Now it's going to kickoff its fourth decade in style, with a party that will last all weekend long.
Entertaining music will be played from the moment that the festival starts - Friday, June 20th at 4 p.m. - until the last moment of the weekend. Local favorite "Raw Silk" will be kicking things off proper with a lauded set of their soul/funk/jazz music (that particular show is set to begin at 7 p.m.)
On Saturday, the festival will pick back up at noon with a drum circle. Maybe you haven't pounded on the drum pad before, but this event is open to all, so you should drop by and play a few notes anyway. Music will be going on at the main stage, too, until 8 p.m. that evening. (There will be a "Children's Stage," if you feel like bringing the little ones along to the festivities.)
"It's a weekend of outstanding entertainment for the community, and it's free," said Claudia Bratton, executive director of the Solstice parade. "The lineup covers a wide range of tastes, from Gypsy to pop, reggae, rock, hip hop, surf grunge, Macedonian folk and alternative music. There is something for everyone to enjoy and remember for a lifetime."
The parade continues on Sunday, with music playing on the main stage until 6 p.m. Of course, the entertainment acts aren't the only part of the Solstice Festival and parade - there will be arts booths, food vendors, a beer and wine garden and plenty of other attractions open for all three days of the event.
