Fine dining establishments in San Francisco17 Jul 2012 12:35 PM
San Francisco is one of the premier hotspots for dining. Gourmet offerings and original dishes are found throughout the city. Whether you’re looking for a place to eat after work or for a date with a significant other, there are plenty of unique establishments available to choose from near high-quality San Francisco real estate.
Here are four restaurants to try in San Francisco:
1. Bi-Rite Creamery. Located at 3692 18th Street, this local favorite is so popular that lines snake around the block of this Mission staple. The organic ice cream shop uses local ingredients to create fantastic offerings such as roasted banana and balsamic strawberry, Conde Nast Traveler reports. In addition, the venue is such an attraction for locals that a new location will soon be opening up at 550 Divisadero Street.
2. Plaj. As the first Scandinavian restaurant in the San Francisco area, Plaj has a lot to live up to - and so far reviews are positive. The establishment is located at 333 Fulton Street at Franklin in the former Ovations space, according to the San Francisco Travel Association. The menu offers diners the opportunity to try Scandinavian dishes with California influences, such as the krondill poached lobster Skagen with white fish caviar, horseradish, avocado and chile and white asparagus with morels, fennel confit, egg, hollandaise sauce and fried sourdough.
3. South Park Café. Styled as an old Georgian café, this casual dining place has earned rave reviews, Conde Nast Traveler reports. Located near AT&T Park at 108 South Park, this establishment offers scrumptious appetizers and entrees. Consider trying the Roast Liberty duck breast with cider vinegar sauce and braised red cabbage or the Brentwood sweet corn soup.
4. Lightning Tavern. If you’re looking for a unique place to get a few drinks consider the Lightning Tavern in Cow Hollow. With traditional bar food and an expansive drink menu, it is the ideal location for a late-night dinner - food is served until 1:30 a.m. You can get buckets of 50 New England-styled wings to share with friends if that’s what you are in the mood for. The decor is funky and rustic with unusual lighting fixtures displayed around the interior. The restaurant is located at 1875 Union Street and Laguna.
