Sailing down the San Francisco Bay, in style13 Aug 2014 5:09 PM
As we've discussed previously, if you live in San Francisco, then you inevitably spend a fair amount of time staring out into the bay. For the residents who live in the area's luxury real estate, the bay offers more than just a momentary distraction while you're riding down the coast - it's also a destination for some top-shelf sailing trips. And with the San Francisco Sailing Company, you've got multiple options for how you want to get out onto the water this summer.
Your first option would be the Golden Gate Bridge Champagne Cruise, which leaves Pier 39 every Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m. for a two hour sail under the aforementioned bridge. This particular trek brings visitors across the Fisherman Wharf, the Aquatic Park, Fort Point and many other San Francisco landmarks. It even brings riders around Alcatraz Island, which promises to provide some of "the most magnificent views in the world."
Best of all, the sailing company assures us that this trip is the "warmest sail of the day," happening early enough on the schedule to enjoy still waters without any cool winds. So if you're looking for the coolest place to sip on champagne early in the morning, look no further - this cruise is the place to be.
If the morning isn't your thing, try out the Sunset Sail
If you're not a morning person, then the Sunset Sail may be more your speed. Beer and wine will be served during this two hour trip, which leaves at 6:30 p.m., from the same location as the above-mentioned cruise, seven days per week. This evening cruise will allow you to see San Francisco from an entirely different point of view - one that's illuminated by the bright, striking lights of the city sky during the night. If you've never been out on the water under the cover of the moon, then you owe it to yourself to take a trip on the Sunset Sail (and the drinks are quite good, too!)
For more information regarding both the Champagne Cruise and the Sunset Sail - such as tickets, group rates, prices and more - check the San Francisco Sailing Company's official website, or call (415) 378-4887. The ships setting sail on behalf of this company can also be booked for birthday parties, weddings and other events, so don't hesitate to consider the bay as a potential destination for your next getaway.
