CEO of Sotheby's International Realty interviewed by The New York Times

Recently, Sotheby's International Realty, Inc. chief executive and president Kathy Korte sat down with The New York Times' Vivian Marino, as part of the journalist's latest installment of her "The 30-minute Interview" series. Having assumed the helm of the company in 2006, Korte has since gained a substantial amount of experience and additional insight into the industry, which she graciously shared with Marino during their recent meeting.

As one of the most respected residential brokerages in the world, Sotheby's International Realty has grown significantly since its founding in 1976. The organization, which specializes in luxury real estate, currently boasts 41 company-owned locations in in 13 markets across the county, including such high-end metropolitan areas as New York City and San Francisco.

Questions ranged in topics from how business has been, to what kind of sales pace Korte expects to see in the coming months. Marino also touched upon the global brand's reach, as well as its ability to cater to some of the world's most affluent individuals.

With housing markets across the U.S. once again exhibiting signs of strength, the luxury sector has shown considerable increases during the last year. While Korte was careful not to divulge any hard numbers during her interview with the Times, she did note that 2013 was the best year on record for the brokerage.
