The Old Pasadena Film Festival runs this whole month

Old Pasadena has been a haven for great artists and great art throughout the decades. Sure, it serves as the commercial center bringing together all the luxury real estate lined throughout Pasadena - but it's also home to Andy Warhol's west coast debut, the Pasadena Museum of Modern Art and to many other highlights of western culture. It's going to be hard to forget about that fact throughout July - the Old Pasadena Film Festival will be running all month long.

This isn't structured like any old film festival, though, where one theater gets rented out and movies play all weekend long. Instead, a number of free communal screenings - most of them outdoors - will be occurring throughout the month. Some will provide space for picnics, others will be hosted by local DJs, and all of that will be full of fun events for locals to take part in. If you're looking for a way out of the house during the coming month, then you should definitely check the festival's schedule - the list of events is as expansive as it is exciting.

What films will be playing at the festival?
As for what movies are actually playing at the festival, there will be options to suit every type of cinematic taste. Do you think they don't make them like they used to? You're in luck: the 1968 classic "The Odd Couple" will be one of the centerpiece attractions during the festival, playing on Friday, July 11. If you're looking for some more old-school laughs, then don't miss "Animal Crackers" - featuring the legendary and uproarious, Marx Brothers - on Friday the 18th. If star-power is what you're after, though, you can't miss "Suddenly, Last Summer" on the 19th - seeing Katherine Hepburn's luminous visage up on the big screen will help to remind you why you cared about film festivals in the first place.

Of course, there will be many different, more contemporary films on display too: for instance, the critically lauded coming-of-age romp "Moonrise Kingdom," or last year's blockbuster smash hit - and Academy Award winner - "Gravity". There's a film, and attractions, to suit every type of taste at the Old Pasadena Film Festival. Check out the schedule to see which night, which films, and which events are calling your name!
