Being an active real estate professional since 1980, Rita is a specialist in residential and condominium sales with Sotheby's International Realty. She is a member, past president in 2003 and ten-year board director of the Pasadena-Foothills Association of Realtors, a ten-year director, 2002 Southern California region membership vice chair and past Chair of State Communications Advisory of the California Association of Realtors (CAR), and a member of the PFAR Professionals in Real Estate. She has served her associates on numerous committees including as current chair of Orientation, Finance for four years, co-chair of Membership, Local Government Relations, School Task Force, Equal Opportunity, twelve years with four as chair for Education, and Community Services, committing one of the most successful fund raising projects of the real estate community at large. Rita was awarded Realtor-Salesperson of the year in 2001.

After college and an early career as a professional vocalist, she joined New York Life Insurance, first as a sales trainer, then as accounting supervisor. She left to take a position as Administrative Assistant to the president, Artists Managers Guild, then moved to Ford Aerospace, where she was a recruiting specialist for the NASA Deep Space Program before entering real estate.

With the Woman's Civic League of Pasadena for 24 years, she has been treasurer, program coordinator, chairperson and committee member of its philanthropic program to raise funds for assisting area adults and children with special needs. The League honored her as Woman of the Year 2000. She was president from June 2000-2002.

Rita has been a member of the following Pasadena clubs: Council of Women's Clubs, Historical Society, Playhouse, Heritage Society and the Beautiful Foundation. Her volunteer work includes the American Heart Association, City of Hope and the Arthritis Foundation.

In 2003 she presented a pilot program to stimulate the music curricula in Pasadena public schools by soliciting donation of musical instruments from Realtors, their clients, friends and musicians to volunteer group instruction. The program is Realtors for Music, to work in conjunction with Realtors for Reading, started in fall 1999.
