56th annual Monterey Jazz Festival to be held this September

Monterey has long been the venue of distinguished music festivals and elegant performances by acclaimed artists, and the tradition will continue this year, as preparations for the 56th annual Monterey Jazz Festival are now underway.

Due to the list of featured musicians, this yearly event is a highlight for many owners of Monterey real estate. During the upcoming event, which will be held at the Monterey County Fairgrounds from September 20 to 22, 500 performers will share eight stages and play to thousands of spectators.

On Friday night, Gregory Porter will follow the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra and Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club. Saturday night headliners include Bobby McFerrin, the Joe Lovano-Dave Douglas Quintet and the group Prism, whose members include Dave Holland, Kevin Eubanks, Craig Taborn and Eric Harland. Renowned vocalist and jazz pianist Diana Krall will occupy the main stage Sunday night, and the Wayne Shorter Quartet will help close out the weekend.

In addition to the music, visitors will be treated to an array of international cuisine, as well as opportunities for shopping, viewing art exhibits and attending educational events and seminars where it's possible to converse with emerging and iconic jazz artists.

If you want to listen to some of the best living jazz musicians display their talents, while sampling some of the finest culinary offerings, you may want to make arrangements to buy your tickets soon. If you're interested in priority reserved seating, exclusive parking opportunities and access to all grounds, stages and activities, be sure to inquire about full weekend area packages.

Area boasts storied history of past performances
In its 56th year of operation, the Monterey Jazz Festival is just one of the offerings that have shaped the area into a hub of vibrant culture and artistic expression. The Monterey Blues Festival has been held since 1986, and the Monterey Museum of Art regularly draws scores of visitors. However, the most influential event occurred in June 1967, when Janis Joplin, Otis Redding, Jimi Hendrix and The Who played the legendary Monterey Pop Festival and transformed the international music scene forever.

Due to its rich history and continued tradition of hosting quality musical performances, Monterey is a premier destination for anyone seeking luxury real estate in a dynamic area. The city's many fine restaurants and upscale accommodations can help anyone feel at home, whether they're from across the country or across the globe.
