Luxury Homes and Real Estate - Sotheby’s International Realty

Monterey Peninsula, Northern California

Nancy Reese lives and breathes Carmel and knows its people. She has a realtor’s instinct for knowing what people want, borne of a diverse professional career focused on designing, discovering and understanding just that — what people want — from the Big Apple of New York City to Carmel.

Nancy began her career in the early 1970s as freelance designer for N.C. Edwards Product Development in New York City where she was responsible for initiating product ideas, developing graphics, and packaging the final product for clients in advertising, textiles, crafts and public relations. Following this position, Nancy worked for Vogart Crafts Corporation in NYC starting as an Art Director and advancing to become Vice President of Product Development, and finally, Senior Vice President of the company’s Trio Three Division; managing its staff, developing several product lines per year, launching large public relations programs, and promoting products for a who’s who of corporate icons, including Sesame Street, the Muppets, Campbell’s Kids, General Foods, Nestle and Coca Cola.

From 1980 to 1986, Nancy was President of The Chelsea Crafter, Inc., a product development company in New York City that was consultant to major industries including Wamsutta Pacific, VIP Fabrics, Spring Mills, Concord Fabrics, and Prismatics. By mid-decade, Nancy was Director of Product Development for Duncan Enterprises in Fresno, CA., recruited to lead a new product development effort in the crafts and toy industries as well as to breathe new life into their existing product lines. Among her successes, she hired a new national sales staff, coordinated trade shows, national sales meetings, and a large public relations campaign with press events, editorial, and press relations.

In the early ‘90s, Nancy moved a few hundred miles to Carmel, where she first established Design International Ltd., developing and importing products for medium-sized companies in the U.S. And, she developed a love for selling real estate.

Nancy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Long Island University Greenvale, NY. Her adaptability and breadth of skills were put to the test when, in 2010, upon her husband’s death, she took over as President and CEO of his financial planning company (First Sterling Corp.) until the firm could be properly closed.
