Hallie Mitchell Dow, real estate broker, has been selling properties on the Monterey Peninsula for over 20 years. The Mitchell Group Real Estate, of which she was co- owner, was sold recently to Sotheby's International Realty, and now Hallie is involved in the business on a full-time basis representing buyers and sellers in the greater Carmel area. Hallie is a third generation Carmel realtor.
Hallie grew up in Piedmont, CA but spent much of her youth in Carmel, always holding the thought that she would someday live there. Hallie graduated with a degree in English from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1968, and subsequently spent almost 20 years working in the insurance industry in the Bay Area. In 1986, to fulfull her lifelong dream, Hallie moved to Carmel, obtained her broker's license, and took over the small but dynamic Mitchell Group office, which her parents had opened in 1975. That office remains in the same spot to this day, in the courtyard of the historic El Paseo building in the heart of the village of Carmel-by-the-Sea. With her brother, Bill Mitchell, who founded The Mitchell Group, they grew the company to 140-plus agents, working from five offices strategically located throughout the Monterey Peninsula. In August of 2005, Hallie and Bill sold the company to Sotheby's International Realty.
Hallie is very much involved in community affairs and is active in the Carmel-by-the-Sea Garden Club, which has helped to create and maintain civic projects such as Piccadilly Park and the new garden at Harrison Memorial Library. Hallie is also a recently retired trustee and executive board member of the Monterey Museum of Art, where she is still actively engaged. Hallie and her husband Brad Dow live in Carmel-by-the-Sea near Mission Ranch.
