Barry Sloane, who joined Sotheby's International Realty in 1999, leads the Beverly Hills office's department specializing in architecturally significant homes and historically important properties. He has represented and sold such landmark homes as Frank Lloyd Wright's 1923 La Miniatura, A.F. Leicht's 1929 The Castle, and Richard Neutra's 1951 M.I.K. House. Barry has listed and sold more than $700 million in prime Los Angeles properties, most located on the Westside and in the Hollywood Hills. He has specialized in historic properties associated with some of Hollywood's greatest legends, including the homes of Jean Harlow, Rudolf Valentino, Hedy Lamarr, and Lana Turner, as well as the properties of a large number of contemporary celebrities. An active member of the local art and architecture communities, Barry has lectured on contemporary trends in residential architecture for the American Institute of Architects. He is also a member of the Los Angeles Conservancy, the National Trust for Historic Preservation and the Los Angeles County Museum of Arts' committee for contemporary art. Barry also acts as a mayoral appointee to the Whitley Heights Historic Preservation Overlay Zone Board.Barry frequently lends works from his contemporary art collection to major museums. He and his collection have been profiled in Art News, Art & Auction, Los Angeles and Forbes magazines.
